JOHN NEAL GAMMON Tuesday, July 1, 1947 - Monday, October 2, 2017

Mr. John Neal Gammon, age 70, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. John was born on July 1, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Francis Neal “Buck” and Helen Margaret (Brown) Gammon.

He graduated from Glendale High School in 1965, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the now Missouri State University, Springfield.

John served his country proudly for four years in the U.S. Navy, as an Air/Sea Crew Chief.

Later he served as President of the Chamber of Commerce and was on the Board of Directors of the Intermountain Healthcare (IHC) Hospital, in Logan, Utah.

John was best known by his family and friends for his great and ornery sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Buck Gammon.

John is survived by three sons and their spouses, Todd Neal and Michelle Gammon, Bradley John and Cindy Gammon, and Wade Matthew Gammon, and the son’s mother, Dona Borghardt; three step daughters, Tiffany Smith, Andrea Hamblim, and Jennifer Telford, and the step daughter’s mother, Crystal Olszewski; six grandchildren, Kyle, Kendall, Kaden, Kelson, Bailey John and Thomas; his mother, Helen Gammon; four siblings, Cathy Gammon, Juanita Bergman, Thomas Gammon, and Mark Gammon; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the Glenstone Baptist Church, 413 S. Glenstone Ave., Springfield, MO 65802, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Missouri. Burial, with military honors, with follow in Brookline Cemetery, Brookline, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name may be made to the Brookline Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 473, Brookline Station, MO 65619. Char and I are very sorry to hear this. John was a good friend and a good boss. Through several moves we lost contact and that is also sad.
Fly high with the angels John, you are truly a wonderful man.
